Electric Ladyland [Redux] Gatefold 2xLP
New Sea Blue with Bone and Oxblood Splatter Repressing

Without doubt, 2017 has been a year that, though yielding some phenomenal music, also put some serious effort into killing off too many of our rock 'n roll heroes.

The wonderful thing about records is that, no matter how many musicians we lose, when they go, or how their work changed over time, we'll always have those vital, tangible slabs of wax cut deep with the songs that have defined and soundtracked our lives.

As we head into the final few weeks of December, do us (and yourself) a favor and revisit some of your favorite records, whether from this year or three decades past.

Those records brought us here, they keep us here, and we're pretty sure they'll still be here when we're long gone.

Happy Holidays,

Magnetic Eye Records
December 6, 2017

GHASTLY SOUND is back.

Ten months after, according to New Noise Magazine, "Ghastly Sound came seemingly from nowhere to release one of the most exciting EPs of the year," a blistering debut Metal Hammer called, "furious but freewheeling sludge rock with massive tunes," the Burlington, Vermont threesome has re-surfaced to drop their second EP of 2017, The Bottom.

In the words of Echoes and Dust, the 5 monster tunes on this new slab offer "the visceral oomph of hardcore, with a metallic edge and a sprinkling of 1990s punk anthemic melody wrapped up in Unsane-style noise rock. So what to call it?  How about just 'outstanding'?"

All of this courtesy of a band that, in case you'd forgotten, is driven solely by drums, vocals and bass - no guitars whatsoever.

The Bottom EP drops digitally on December 15th, and can be preordered atghastlysound.bandcamp.com/album/the-bottom-ep

So you're neck deep in holiday festivities (maybe) or working your butt off (likely) and have little time to think about shopping for yourself or anyone else.  We get it.  So let us help.

As mentioned last time we talked, we made sure to be ready this season, pressing and printing furiously to get a massive supply of slipmats, t-shirts, and some of our all-time favorite (and most popular) records on hand, not to mention the endlessly beloved Cats on Amps 2018 Calendar.

Just to re-cap some of the highlights:

- First edition copies of our 2017 releases, including:

  • Summoner 'Beyond the Realm of Light''
  • Low Flying Hawks 'Genkaku'
  • Ghastly Sound 's/t'
  • Year of the Cobra 'Burn Your Dead'

- Limited Edition Slipmats

  • Henry Bennett Mushroom Wonderland Magnetic Eye design

- The 2018 Cats on Amps Calendar (featured in Treble Magazine's exclusiveHoliday Gift Guide)

- Or consider a Magnetic Eye Records Bandcamp subscription to give your favorite heavy music fan (even if that's yourself) all the new music we release the moment we release it!  (details here)

Also bear in mind that in addition to our tried-and-true Bandcamp store, we're also operating our own store on merhq.net with the occasional item that's not sold out elsewhere... some of the links above go there as well, so check out both while you're scrolling and swiping these next couple weeks!

Lastly, we want to quickly highlight all the amazing bands we worked with in 2017. ..

To our peerless roster who released staggeringly killer records and played shows everywhere from record shops to titanic festivals across several continents this year:  Summoner, Elephant Tree, Domkraft, Watchtower, Year of the Cobra, The Nopes, Low Flying Hawks, Ghastly Sound, WhiteNails, Sunflo'er, and I Am Become Death, we salute you!

There were also a handful of bands we got involved with who aren't part of our roster, but who we nevertheless found common ground with and enthusiastically shared with you heavy music listeners of discriminating taste...

We're talking about bands like Daxma, Somnuri, Young Hunter, Howling Giant, Olde, Shroud Eater, and Wounded Giant.  We felt nothing but honor and pride at the opportunity to be associated with these bands and the records they made, and hope you had the chance to check out every one of them!

We plan to continue this trend of leveraging our resources to help more bands than just those we sign in 2018, and believe (hope?) that every one of the staggeringly brilliant outfits on that list would give us a glowing reference.

With that in mind, if you're in a band, are friends with one, or know one in need of the kind of help a quality record label can provide, don't hesitate tomake contact.  It's entirely possible that even if our roster doesn't have room in the new year, there may be something we can do to assist.

Till then, we leave you with wishes of food, drink and volume all exceeding safe levels this holiday season.  We'll be right there with you!

LOW FLYING HAWKS "GENKAKU" (splatter variant)
(One of the killer records on sale right now on our Bandcamp store - discount code malcolm20)

AC/DC co-founder and anchoring songwriter Malcolm Young died Saturday.

Sometime that freezing night, every leaf on our giant cottonwood tree fell off.  The backyard looked like the leafy version of that eerie movie scene where all the dead fish wash up on the beach.  Even huge, healthy trees aren't immune to the melancholy of so many musical legends leaving us these days, I guess.

Lots of folks deal with deaths like Malcolm's by sharing stories and remembrances... others think it's the perfect time to tell you that the artist or band sucked anyway.

You don't have to be a fan of AC/DC, or Soundgarden, or The Heartbreakers, but hey, shut up while those of us who are say goodbye to the architects of some of the greatest rock tunes EVER, would ya?

Us here?  We're fans.

You may as well get used to hearing us talk about THE WALL [REDUX], because it's pretty much the most exciting thing we've done since the launch of this label.  Every time another band sends in their track, we look at each other and go, "OH MY FUCKING GOD, DUDE!"

Unfortunately, we can't keep leaking tunes from this amazing project or there would be nothing left for the official release.  However, you can make sure you're one of the first to get your hands on the limited first edition by pre-ordering here (http://www.merhq.net/store/various-artists-the-wall-redux-classic-black-2xlp-preorder) .

What, you're just hearing about this?  And you don't know who's on it?

Check out this list of just some of the highlights:

ASG.  Sasquatch.  Greenleaf.  Domkraft.  THE goddamn MELVINS.  Solace.  Mos Generator.  Mars Red Sky.  And we have it on good authority that SCOTT friggin' REEDER is pulling something together.

Any Anthony Bourdain fans out there?  See the Seattle episode Sunday night when he called Mark Lanegan, "One of the greatest living singers of our generation?"  Yeah, Lanegan will be on this record too.

We've been saying it, and we'll keep saying it:  this is gonna be big.

Here, once again, is an audio teaser of some of the tracks that have already come in to give you an idea:
https://youtu.be/vc7hJ4Uv4SI
A medley of clips from the first completed batch of finished tracks from the forthcoming THE WALL [Redux] double album in 2018.
We at Magnetic Eye Records know it's weird and a little dangerous out there these days, and would never judge you for thinking about staying inside with a well-spiked beverage and a stack of your favorite records by the turntable.

(We'd probably do that nonstop for the next six weeks if we could.)

Here's to a safe, chaos-free, music-filled holiday season!

Domkraft destroying the Vinyl Stage at Psycho Las Vegas 2017

Between tropical storms, eclipses, ice sheets breaking and a week in Las Vegas, we hardly know what season it is anymore, let alone what month.  If it really is the end of Summer (as we suspect), we hope you're staying safe and dry, as something tells us we're looking ahead to a wet, gloomy autumn.  Thankfully, we've got the perfect soundtrack for that.
Before we get cranking, we've got a pretty big announcement:

For years, we've received literally hundreds of submissions a month from bands looking for help getting their music out there.  As a highly selective label with a lean roster of bands who receive our full dedication, we aren't able to work with even a fraction of the artists we wish we could.  But now we've got a way to help more of them.

In collaboration with the Cats on Amps social media phenomenon and design wizard Mark Valkwitch of The Quilted Squirrel Agency, we're assisting in the launch of a new Digital Distribution and Artist Services Platform called Cats on Amps DigiDistro.

This platform will allow self-sufficient bands to leverage the resources and knowledge of Magnetic Eye Records and our distribution partners to get their music into every major (and minor) digital download and streaming store worldwide, launch full PR campaigns, be considered for synchronization licensing opportunities, set up and manage their publishing, and yes, manufacture their records on irresistibly sweet high-quality vinyl.  For more info, check out Cats on Amps DigiDistro here (http://digidistro.net) , where you'll see the range of options being offered.

What is comes down to is, if you're a band who has already the done the heavy lifting (writing and recording a killer record) and you want to make sure that lack of access to the right channels and resources doesn't hinder it reaching as many ears as possible, Cats on Amps DigiDistro might be exactly the partner to help.
http://digidistro.net/

The photo at the top of this newsletter is just one chapter in the story of four Magnetic Eye bands who demolished in set after killer set at Psycho Las Vegas this year.  In fact, we'll go on record in saying that Summoner, Elephant Tree, Domkraft and Year of the Cobra couldn't possibly have delivered more gloriously on the hopes and expectations of all in attendance.  You know that feeling when warm waves of sonic energy are vibrating through your chest in the most exhilarating way, and you realize you're watching and hearing one of the most colossal live performances of your life?  It was like that... over and over again.

With that in mind, the great news is that Year of the Cobra's simmering new EP Burn Your Dead is now available for preorder on multiple stunning vinyl variants plus CD and digital.  They'll head out again in September and October to flex these new songs on the road, so don't miss the chance to grab one of the highly limited first editions right here (https://yearofthecobra.bandcamp.com/album/burn-your-dead) .
https://yearofthecobra.bandcamp.com/album/burn-your-dead

For that matter, all the bands who played Psycho have killer records out that you may or may not already own, but if you don't, this is the time to catch up on Summoner's Beyond the Realm of Light and Phoenix, Domkraft's The End of Electricity, and Elephant Tree's Theia and their incomparable self-titled full-length.

We knew these records were all milestones when they came out, and now that we've seen the bands dominate at arguably the most massive stoner/doom festival in North America, we have no problem shamelessly telling you what you're missing if you don't own them.

We'd also encourage all of you who were lucky enough to see these bands at Psycho to let them know how you felt.  Email the bands directly or email us (mailto:jadd@merhq.net?subject=Rocked%20at%20Psycho!) and we'll pass your words along, because if you had anything like the transcendent experiences we had getting pummeled by them over and over again, we're sure you'd love to tell them so.

We don't want to bombard you with too much information right before what is (we hope) a relaxing holiday weekend, but really quick:

In case you missed it, the new album from enigmatic duo Low Flying Hawks, Genkaku (Japanese for “hallucination”), is here (https://lowflyinghawks.bandcamp.com/album/genkaku) .  Released last Friday, this is the brand-new slab of atmospheric, seismic psych-doom featuring drummer Dale Crover (The Melvins) and bassist Trevor Dunn (Mr. Bungle) alongside multi-instrumentalists EHA and AAL, and it's overflowing with tectonic guitar dirges and simmering intensity.  And if you happened to see us hawking merch at Psycho Las Vegas, you may've heard us mention that Melvins frontman King Buzzo also  lends his incomparable vocals to two of the album’s most powerful tunes.  Don't hesitate!

Sure to be a best-of-2017 contender, order Genkaku here (http://magneticeyerecords.merchnow.com/products/v2/255493/genkaku-greenbluewith-blackwhite-splatter-gatefold) or here (https://lowflyinghawks.bandcamp.com/album/genkaku) and check out their video for the song "Space Wizard" (featuring Buzzo) via Popmatters right here:

Till then...

** Look At This.
------------------------------------------------------------

Just wanted to get your attention.

Magnetic Eye Records isn't letting up on what we do best:  bringing you the best heavy music on earth in the most appealing and memorable ways possible.

Which means, without doubt, offering it on unimaginably gorgeous vinyl.

Our new online store, DOOM COUNTY (http://www.doomcounty.com) , features an array of MER releases, both current and upcoming, plus hard to find and out-of-print exclusives that you may have thought were loooong gone and impossible to get.

From now through Sunday July 9th, use promo code MAGNETIC4TH for 20% off your purchase at the Doom County store as an Independence Day gift to loyal fans of the heavy.

You'll also see the inaugural offerings of our curated catalog, a selection of non-MER releases hand-picked by our team and by JJ Koczan of The Obelisk (http://theobelisk.net/obelisk/) for an exclusive roundup we call "The Obelisk Pick."

Don't hesitate to reach out with ideas and requests for additional titles you'd like to see!

** LOW FLYING HAWKS RETURNS
------------------------------------------------------------

Enigmatic duo Low Flying Hawks is preparing to bring forth their latest opus, Genkaku (Japanese for “hallucination”), the follow-up to their acclaimed debut Kōfuku.

Once more featuring drummer Dale Crover (The Melvins) and bassist Trevor Dunn (Mr. Bungle) alongside multi-instrumentalists EHA and AAL, Genkaku is doomier, riffier, and boasting bigger hooks than its predecessor, overflowing with tectonic guitar dirges and simmering intensity.

Produced, recorded and mixed by Toshi Kasai (The Melvins, Big Business) and mastered by James Plotkin (Electric Wizard, Moon Duo), Genkaku also features Melvins frontman King Buzzo, who lends his incomparable vocals to two of the album’s titanic tracks.

"Pounding guitars full of sludgy undertones fill Genkaku from beginning to end, building to a sinister and almost out-of-body experience," the band says.  "It's ideal for those who are willing to let go and hand over control to this hallucinating monster of a record.”

Sure to be a best-of-2017 contender, pre-order Genkaku here (http://magneticeyerecords.merchnow.com/products/v2/255493/genkaku-greenbluewith-blackwhite-splatter-gatefold) or here (https://lowflyinghawks.bandcamp.com/album/genkaku) and get ready to be fucking floored.

** YEAR OF THE COBRA IN THE STUDIO
------------------------------------------------------------

Hard at work on their forthcoming EP for Magnetic Eye, Year of the Cobra spent the holiday weekend in a studio with the godfather of bottom-end, Billy Anderson (Sleep, The Melvins) laying down a grip of new tracks.

We haven't heard a note of it yet, but if their STB Records full-length In the Shadows Below (available at Doom County) is any indication of what to expect, any of your walls that aren't shaken to the point of instability by the new Low Flying Hawks will be in serious danger of collapsing under the onslaught of the new YotC.

While they were at it, they also tracked a pair of tunes for our forthcoming THE WALL [REDUX] project (pre-order at www.merhq.net/store (http://www.merhq.net/store/) ), which we absolutely cannot wait to hear.

Bottom line, this rising two-piece isn't wasting a moment, and we're ecstatic at the opportunity to bring forth their next big statement later this year.

As we say farewell for this update, just a quick reminder that there are less than 50 days till Psycho Las Vegas, where many will get their first (and maybe only) chance to see some of Magnetic Eye's biggest and brightest:  Elephant Tree, Domkraft, and Summoner, not to mention Year of the Cobra, all blowing minds onstage there this year.

Expect to see MER there too, selling records, talking tunes and sneaking off to catch bands when we can (not gonna miss Slo Burn this time around)  Come flip through some vinyl and get some exclusive Psycho goodies!

Till then...

It's a strange time to be a diehard music fan, because more and more of the musicians who brought us here are dying.  Years back, when we lost Ronnie James Dio, it was incredibly sad, but it did feel kind of inevitable.  A year and a half ago, when Lemmy moved on, it felt like the world changed, because we all really believed he was indestructible.  And now, to say goodbye to Chris Cornell, someone who was young when we were young, it's just too damn soon.

Some of us at Magnetic Eye can trace the impact of Chris's voice through almost three decades of personal life experiences, from first hearing his raw shriek on the
Pump Up The Volume soundtrack all the way to Soundgarden's welcome re-emergence... from college to adult life, Singles to James Bond, in every phase of life since the Reagan presidency, Chris Cornell's songs were part of the soundtrack, and it's shocking to accept that there are no more come.

It's important to find artists who speak to you and stick with them.  If you've been following Magnetic Eye for long, you know that we don't just throw records out there to satisfy an instant gratification craving for volume.  We're looking for the bands that make us feel, deeply and powerfully, the way our all-time favorite artists have always made us feel.  We hope it's obvious when you listen to what we put out, and we hope you've found something in the likes of bands like Summoner, Elephant Tree, Domkraft, etc. that resonates, not only today, but in a lasting way that will secure them a place in your own personal canon.  Every artist, release, and project we put the Magnetic Eye name on starts with this ethic, and we sure hope you feel that.

If you haven't yet... turn the goddamn volume way the fuck UP.

SO MUCH NEW MUSIC
If you had a hard time keeping up with everything we've had going on these past few months, we understand.  The Elephant Tree and Watchtower repressings, the new album from Summoner, the pre-order launch for THE WALL [Redux], the debuts from Ghastly Sound and WhiteNails, new music from The Nopes... we threw a lot at you.  In our defense, we couldn't help it - too much great music needed to find its way into the world, and we had a responsibility to get it there.

For the next few days, we're running a special promotion on our Bandcamp store (https://magneticeyerecords.bandcamp.com/) as well as our work-in-progress-but-looking-fucking-great storefront on MerchNow (http://magneticeyerecords.merchnow.com/) .  Use the promo code MEMORIAL15 for 15% off at either store, and catch up on any and all of the new stuff you missed or were hesitating on.  Remember, limited vinyl editions are exactly that:  LIMITED.  When they're gone, they're gone.  Here's a sampling of the gorgeousness we're talking about:
https://summonerboston.bandcamp.com/album/beyond-the-realm-of-light
Bottom line, it's a great time to take that plunge and grab a piece of something lasting and tangible that immortalizes some of the brilliant music that should be scoring your life.  These bands need to be heard.  These records need to be played.
MORE BRILLIANCE COMING
Okay, so now that you're caught up on what you might've missed, let's talk about what's brand new and what's coming:

https://whitenails.bandcamp.com/album/first-trip

We've told you pretty much every good thing we can about First Trip, the debut album from WhiteNails (https://whitenails.bandcamp.com/album/first-trip) , but forget our opinion - here's what Metal Injection had to say:  "Hailing from the freezing lands of Québec City, Québec, WhiteNails brings the stoner rock with a heavy dose of hypnotic psychedelia, and it's fantastic."
https://magneticeyerecords.bandcamp.com/album/birds-of-ill-omen

There's a little band you might've heard of from New Jersey who put out three of the most crushingly melodic stoner-groove records of the past 17 years... maybe you're familiar with Solace (https://magneticeyerecords.bandcamp.com/album/birds-of-ill-omen) ?  Well, Solace is back with a new singer and new tunes in the form of the "Bird of Ill Omen" digital single, backed with their take on "Electric Funeral."  Pre-order to get this one when it releases on June 9th and hear why Solace has been a pillar of the riff-heavy stoner-doom scene for two decades.

https://iambecomedeath.bandcamp.com/album/unfortunate-anthems-and-songs-of-no-hope

If you like your hardcore a little bit metal and your punk on the brutal side, we've got the thing for you:  Unfortunate Anthems and Songs of No Hope, the new LP from I am become Death, is poised to leave a bloody mark.  Its blend of blast beats, throat-hollowing aggression and blurred-out feedback will provide what's missing in life for fans of Converge, Coalesce and Nails.  Three gorgeous gatefold vinyl variants out June 23rd!
Look, we don't have anything against guitars.  WE LOVE GUITARS.  That said, we can see how our signing of Ghastly Sound, a ripping trio comprised of bass, drums, and vocals, followed by the announcement that we'll be working with Seattle two-piece Year of the Cobra (drums and bass/vocals as well) might make you think otherwise.  Don't be afraid.  Nobody here is pulling a Big Short on the classic six-string.  We just like what we like, and when the band is great, we don't ask questions.  Look for a destructive new EP of glorious, hard-hitting, melodic doom from Year of the Cobra later this year!
https://iambecomedeath.bandcamp.com/album/unfortunate-anthems-and-songs-of-no-hope
WHAT ELSE?
* In case you aren't aware, Magnetic Eye has a few different subscription options that get you everything we do as soon as we do it.  Even the entry-level tier is a goddamn steal at $10 per month for every single digital release automatically yours the moment it goes live.  There are more advanced tiers for the serious vinyl-heads as well, but the point is, if you dig what we do and love the idea of getting the absolute pinnacle of heaviness hand-delivered to you first, don't waste a moment checking out the options right here (https://magneticeyerecords.bandcamp.com/subscribe) .
* We've been telling you about our new storefront at MerchNow for a little while now.  It's almost where we want it to be, but we didn't want to wait to let you know about another big piece of news:  The Obelisk Pick.  That's right, Magnetic Eye Records has partnered up with The Obelisk, widely agreed to be the central hub for up-to-the-minute news and communications on the latest and most interesting musical developments across the stoner, doom, and psych underground.  We're excited to offer hand-picked selections from Obelisk founder JJ Koczan, in which he highlights a great band or release that we, in our effort to help elevate the profiles of deserving artists, will make available in our store.  The first of these is available now, so head over to take a look (http://magneticeyerecords.merchnow.com/) and see what you think.  We welcome any feedback and will be adding more non-Magnetic Eye artists and records to our Curated Catalog in the coming months, not to mention
crazy clothing options like this shirt, so take a look around and feel free to let us know what you think!

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/magneticeye/2018-cats-on-amps-calendar-and-photo-book
* Lastly, you may be aware that Magnetic Eye Records is also affiliated with the wonderfully irresistible Cats on Amps brand.  Who doesn't love a cute photo of an adorable kitten shredding a practice amp?  Anyway, if you're a fan or follower, you might be interested in the new Kickstarter to create a limited edition Cats on Amps photo book and 2018 Calendar, currently live and accepting pledges right here (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/magneticeye/2018-cats-on-amps-calendar-and-photo-book) .

AND FINALLY...
http://www.merhq.net/store/

Just another note about THE WALL [REDUX], the big project that many of you already supported by pre-ordering via our Kickstarter a few months back.  We keep bringing this up because, well, because it's going to be fucking incredible.

We keep getting little notes from the bands involved, such as:

"Good news!  We arranged the songs last weekend and turned them into Greenleaf songs... they will turn out great when we record them!" - Tommi/Greenleaf

"We have worked out a pretty cool interpretation that we are all pretty excited about. It was not the easiest song to keep true and still bring some of our flavor, but we are happy with how things are turning out so far!" - Taylor/WhiteNails

"We are starting work on these songs and getting excited... can't wait to get cracking!" - Jillian/Ruby the Hatchet

We want to make sure you know that it's still possible to get in on the limited first edition, if by some chance you didn't during the Kickstarter.  Reserve yours via our website at merhq.net/store/ (http://www.merhq.net/store/)
if hearing artists like The Melvins, ASG, Pallbearer, and our own Summoner, Domkraft and Ghastly Sound re-imagining the classic Floyd album from end to end sounds like your bag, baby.  It's going to be something phenomenal.

As always, thanks for reading!  Any questions, don't hesitate to get in touch at contact@merhq.net (mailto:contact@merhq.net) for anything whatsoever.

Ever feel like you just can't keep up?  Discovering new music is supposed to be fun and rewarding... and we'll help keep it that way by giving you the lowdown on what's new in MER's world.  Disclaimer: this *will not* help you stay current on politics, sports, or all the new Netflix shows you need to check out.  But hey, at least you'll know what to jam while you're scrolling!
SUMMONER IS BACK!
Inarguably, MER'S first milestone signing was Summoner.  That's not just our take; these guys came charging onto the scene with their massive, blistering psych-metal riffage and made thousands of converts and sold out multiple vinyl pressings in no time.

And now (as if you haven't heard), they're back with their latest album, Beyond the Realm of Light.  It's a majestic hero's journey into dark realms and dangerous places that, naturally, is offered in multiple vinyl editions, designed with great care and available in extremely limited quantities.

NEW SIGNING: WHITENAILS

Welcome to Québec Rock City, where five friends from the music and tattoo scenes plus one cross-country transplant have coalesced into a strutting, knock-down cosmic rock unit ready to unleash their blistering trip on the world!

WhiteNails is an electric six-piece who jams amped-up rock full of thick riffs and vintage swagger.  Magnetic Eye is stoked to add them to the roster, and can't wait to release their debut album, First Trip, on May 26.

Keep an eye out in the next month as we premier songs from the album, and check them out on Bandcamp right here! (https://whitenails.bandcamp.com/album/first-trip)
MORE FROM GHASTLY SOUND

https://ghastlysound.bandcamp.com/album/ghastly-sound

GHASTLY SOUND continues their unstoppable piledrive into our hearts and minds with the the new vinyl version of their debut EP.

After making a pretty big splash via digital-only, we at MER and the band all realized this sh*t was just too good not to put on wax.

Hence, Ghastly Sound's debut is now available as a super-sweet trans-red/black/splatter 7-inch, in stock and ready to land on the waiting face of your ever-hungry-for-new-tunes turntable.

Metal Insider (http://www.metalinsider.net/premieres/ep-premiere-ghastly-sound-stream-noisy-hooky-guitarless-ep) says, "If you’re a fan of Whores., Every Time I Die, KEN Mode or Kylesa, you’ve got a new favorite band."

Invisible Oranges (http://www.invisibleoranges.com/ghastly-sound-cuttlefish-video-premiere/) calls Ghastly Sound, "A powerful and unique take on what a rock band can be in 2017."

And New Noise (http://newnoisemagazine.com/review-ghastly-sound-self-titled/) raves, "Ghastly Sound have come out of seemingly nowhere to release one of the most exciting EPs of the year."

Take a listen and pick up your copy of this ultra-limited 7-inch while it lasts by clicking the Bandcamp player below:

ODDS AND ENDS
We recently learned about a concept called "Information Blindness," a technical-sounding term to describe daily the bombardment of media, news, and info via social channels that we all get buried under, making it next to impossible to process any of it.

With that in mind, we have tons more to tell you about, like the new 5-song Fun Limbo 7-inch EP from The Nopes coming in May, and the long-awaited debut full-length from I Am Become Death due in June, plus several other upcoming projects we're incredibly excited about... but we want to be a little island of riff-filled serenity, not part of the endless ocean of noise.

As such, we'll leave you with these last couple items:

http://magneticeyerecords.merchnow.com/

Magentic Eye is rolling out a new webstore via the fine folks at MerchNow, which will eventually be a great place to get all our latest titles plus a selection of offerings from bands and labels we simply think are cool and worth exposing to the world (meaning you).  Upcoming additions include stuff from Horseburner, Wounded Giant, and Year of the Cobra, for instance.
The MER MerchNow store is open for business now, though it still has yet to be populated with the entirety of our catalog as well as the forthcoming curated offerings.  Still, if you notice something out of stock at our Bandcamp store, we suggest you get in the habit of checking magneticeyerecords.merchnow.com (http://magneticeyerecords.merchnow.com/) to see if there isn't still a copy or two available there (like the rapidly dwindling OBI edition of the new Summoner LP, for example).  We'll keep you posted on the store's progress in the meantime!
http://www.merhq.net/store/

Many of you supported our Kickstarter for THE WALL [REDUX], the massive project with artists like The Melvins, ASG, Pallbearer, Greenleaf, and our own Summoner, WhiteNails, and Ghastly Sound re-imagining the classic Floyd album from end to end.  (And again, to those who did... thank you!)

If by some chance you didn't get in on it during the month-long campaign, the good news is that because of the scope and colossal interest in this project, we've set up an option to reserve copies of the limited first edition via our website at merhq.net/store/ (http://www.merhq.net/store/)

Don't worry, those wise enough to jump on the Kickstarter received the best pricing and access to campaign-only exclusives, but now those who couldn't move that fast won't miss out on what's sure to be a landmark release.  In other words, tell your friends who (like us) are dying to hear some of the greatest bands in heavy rock cover one of the greatest albums of all time that it isn't too late!

As always, thanks for reading!  Any questions, don't hesitate to get in touch at contact@merhq.net (mailto:contact@merhq.net) for anything whatsoever.

For the first time in more than a century, the Chicago Cubs are the champs.  Woohoo!  By our clock, that means roughly four days to enjoy the sweet smell of victory in the air... till election day unleashes a whole different aroma.

The good news is, there's great music to be heard in the meantime, in the form of a name you're gonna keep seeing and hearing a lot of...

DOMKRAFT.
(Sometimes one word is all the headline you need.)
Last month, we suggested that DOMKRAFT would soon be one of your all-time favorite annihilating doom bands, and so far, we're pretty satisfied that we didn't overstate things.
https://domkraft.bandcamp.com/album/the-end-of-electricity

DOMKRAFT's The End of Electricity (https://domkraft.bandcamp.com/album/the-end-of-electricity) has been selected as the Pirates Press Record of the Week, Decibel Magazine is hosting an exclusive premier of the album next Wednesday, and the band has been hand-picked to support the legendary BORIS in Stockholm later this month.

With the release date almost here (Nov. 11th), the metal press is dropping bombs of gushing praise the way WikiLeaks drops sensitive information with absolutely no agenda:

"If you like your doom on the heavy and groovy side, this band will blow you away." - CVLT Nation

"We love a good doom riff, especially when a band knows how to ride it." - Metal Injection
"They’re heavy, yet hypnotising. They’re loud, yet languid. They’re simple, yet psychedelic – and so, so good.  Put it this way: they’re a Swedish doom trio, but not as we know it. And that’s a good thing." - Echoes and Dust
http://www.cvltnation.com/premiere-streaming-domkraft-meltdown-orb/

CVLT NATION is currently streaming Domkraft's "Meltdown of The Orb," which you can check out right here (http://www.cvltnation.com/premiere-streaming-domkraft-meltdown-orb/) .

You can also see the band's music video for "Red Lead," the new album's first single, via the player below.

THE NOPES Are On Tour and Headed Your Way

Okay, no bullshit now  - The Nopes Never Heard of It just might be the best modern punk rock record you had no idea you were missing.  It's not even officially out yet, but Echoes and Dust (http://echoesanddust.com/2016/09/nopes-never-heard-of-it/) has already said:

"This is the best punk record I’ve heard in ages.  Solid, wall-to-wall sparkly exuberance from a quartet who appear to delight in not giving a single fuck."

Yeah.

Never Heard of It officially drops on Friday, October 14th, but you can pre-order (http://hellanaw.bandcamp.com/album/never-heard-of-it) on CD, digital, or one of four exclusive vinyl variants right now.

DOMKRAFT is Coming

Would you believe us if we said that we know who one of your soon-to-be-favorite annihilating post-doom behemoths is?

That's a nice thought, but we're realistic - we are in the business of selling records, after all - so we invite you to trust JJ at The Obelisk (http://theobelisk.net/obelisk/2016/10/05/domkraft-the-end-of-electricity-preorders/) instead:

"I’ve heard Domkraft‘s The End of Electricity, and it crushes. The bass tone? You gotta hear it. Groove, lumbering. Riffs, pummeling. All that stuff that means it’s really, really heavy... it seems entirely likely to me that once people have a handle on what Domkraft are doing, these records could go and go quickly."

Click the player below to hear "The Rift," streaming now on Bandcamp, where you can also pre-order The End of Electricity on one of five glorious formats and vinyl variants.

This record is going to flatten you, and grind your gray matter to bits in the best possible way.  And when it does, and you're enjoying the delicate post-destruction that Domkraft has provided, remember that you weren't sure whether you should trust us.
