Magnetic Eye Records feels like proud parents on graduation day, as our hardworking Burlington, Vermont trio Ghastly Sound has been invited to perform at this year's Psycho Las Vegas, alongside such scene titans as Enslaved, High on Fire, Red Fang, Witchcraft, and tons more.
Here's Ghastly Sound singer Tyler Gurwicz with some personal thoughts on their latest release, 'The Bottom" (available atbit.ly/2ikGC4f) and being invited to Psycho:
"Just over a year ago, the recording that would become "The Bottom" EP began at Will Benoit's Radar Studio w/ Daryl Rabidoux. TJ and Ryan tore through all the music in one weekend, but I had severe bronchitis and truly destroyed my voice attempting to sing these songs in the dead of a bitterly cold and dry winter. I was devastated. I felt like my sickness and low spirits rained on the parade. I ended up re-recording most of those vocals as soon as I got better with Ryan Cohen of Robot Dog Studio. Now if rain on your wedding day is considered good luck, this marriage between recording sessions and production styles ultimately worked out for the best, and we ended up putting out a surprise release a couple months back that we are all extremely proud of and grateful for. That release, with help from our incredible label, Magnetic Eye Records, has already garnered critical acclaim nationally and abroad with a quickness, grandness, and sincerity I never experienced before in the music industry. This spring, we'll be playing more shows around the northeast as well as a special Vermont show in collaboration with a co-organizer of the Belgian and Vermont Dunk!festival, in an effort to reinvigorate the local heavy music scene. I am also incredibly happy to announce that we've been invited to play Psycho Las Vegas this summer alongside incredible artists like American Nightmare, Mutoid Man, Red Fang, Dimmu Borgir and so many more. Tonight I go to band practice knowing that not only hard work, but smart work pays off, and only when the music comes first. Thank you for taking a chance on us, and look out for Magnetic Eye's The Wall [Redux] tribute to Pink Floyd later this year, featuring The Melvins, Mark Lanegan, Pallbearer, and yours truly, Ghastly Sound."
Congrats to our boys in Ghastly Sound, and to all the fine folks who'll get their skulls rattled when this band hits the stage in Sin City!
